The Richmond Chapter of ASHRAE awards scholarships each year to local students pursuing engineering, science, and mathematics degrees. Funded entirely by chapter activities, these awards support the next generation of HVAC and STEM professionals in central Virginia.

Honoring Their Legacy

Frederick Weiss
Regional Chairman · Manufacturer’s Rep

Frederick Weiss was an active member of the Richmond Chapter throughout his career as a manufacturer’s representative. Fred served as a Regional Chairman and was an active member at the national level as well.

Robert Blue
Chapter Secretary · 1998

Robert Blue was loyally serving the Richmond Chapter as Secretary at the time of his death in 1998. The scholarships honor his service to the chapter and to our industry.

Who Can Apply

Eligibility

Any student from the Richmond area who is enrolled or will be enrolled in an engineering, science, or mathematics degree program at a technical institute, two year college, or four year university.

Qualification

Applicants must demonstrate financial need to complete their education. Preference is given to those who aspire to work in heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning. Students whose parent is an ASHRAE member also receive consideration.

Selection

The Richmond Chapter Scholarship Committee reviews applications and selects winners.

Award

Winners are notified in July. Funds go directly to the school at the start of the fall semester.

Winners will be selected at the sole discretion of the Richmond Chapter Scholarship Committee. Award amounts and recipient counts vary year to year based on chapter fundraising activities, including the annual Louis Hite Golf Outing.
