Dave White

Chapter President

Dave is a graduate of the University of Virginia and President of the Richmond Chapter.  Dave is the Commercial Sales Manager – South Business Unit at Mitsubishi Electric Trane and has over 20 years experience in HVAC equipment sales.

Daniel Waltz

Chapter President-Elect

After graduating from Hampden-Sydney College in 2018 with a degree in Economics and Business, Daniel then started in the HVAC industry during the summer of 2018, working in the Richmond office of Waltz Engineered Sales, Inc. Daniel has served on the board of ASHRAE since 2020 and looks to continue doing so into the future. The monthly ASHRAE meetings have given him a better understanding of various product and engineering solutions in the HVAC marketplace. Being the current programs chair, his goal is to ensure that others will find our presenters and topics to be useful and current. He looks to continue assisting ASHRAE in advancing the HVAC industry.

Matthew Carter

Vice President

When he’s not engineering energy efficient HVAC systems, Matt helps run the Chapter.  Matt started his career as in intern, working his way up to becoming an EIT and will soon take the exam for his PE License.  

Brian Norton

Chapter Treasurer

Brian Norton has 25 years of experience in the commercial mechanical industry; he is currently Vice President of Service for EMC Mechanical Services, a full-service mechanical contractor in Richmond, Virginia. He began his career as an HVAC apprentice, working his way into the role of service technician. Over the following years, he developed a focus on high-efficiency condensing boilers and eventually moved into building automation and field supervision. In 2016, Norton assumed leadership of the Service Department at EMC Mechanical Services, moving into the role of Vice President in 2019. He is a Tridium Certified Systems Integrator and holds multiple Virginia State Master’s licenses, including Mechanical, Plumbing, and Gas-fitting. Norton has been a Member of ASHRAE since 2016.

Lauren Garner

Chapter Secretary

Lauren is an experienced Sales Engineer with a demonstrated history of working in the construction and A/E industry.  She has worked for ACES for 12 years.  In 2011, Lauren earned her Bachelor of Applied Science with a focus in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University.  Lauren has been involved in Richmond ASHRAE for more than a decade and served as the scholarship and outreach chair before progressing to the governing board.

Tyler Berry

Chapter Past-President

Tyler comes from a diverse background building systems engineer with experience in design, energy assessments, project management, and technical sales. His passion is to promote building design education, energy efficiency, and sustainability, and provide ethical influence over the built environment.

As Director of Engineering at TLA Inc., he manages and provides support for building system engineers in a holistic and educational approach that creates efficient design, develops engineering knowledge, and engages the construction community in successful projects.
